Description

Bending Waters is a modern and elegant vacation home in the foothills of the Ozark Mountains, surrounded by a five-acre private wooded area. It offers comfortable accommodation for up to 13 people in four bedrooms, two and a half bathrooms, and two family rooms with wood-burning fireplaces. The master bedroom has a private deck, a gas fireplace, and a two-person Jacuzzi. The kitchen has a dining area with a view of the river and a formal dining room. All rooms have large windows that overlook the Illinois River and the wooded acreage, and an outside security system monitors the property.

The Illinois River is located in the property’s backyard, offering fun, adventure, and photography opportunities. Many outfitters along the river provide kayaking, canoeing, or rafting. Fishing is also a year-round activity with various fish species, including black bass, white bass, crappie, channel and flathead catfish, bream, and walleye. Lake Tenkiller is half a mile away, offering water activities such as water skiing, sailing, wakeboarding, inner tubing, fishing, and jet skiing. The lake is also famous for scuba diving, and diving pro shops offer training and certification.

For those who enjoy hunting, approximately 2,590 acres of project land are licensed for a State Game Management Area, with principal game species such as whitetail deer, bobwhite quail, wild turkey, mourning dove, duck, geese, cottontail rabbit, and squirrel. There are also golf courses, hiking trails, and outdoor recreational opportunities for bird watching and wildlife observation, with various programs scheduled activities.

Lake Tenkiller offers a variety of attractions and activities for visitors to enjoy. The lake is the clearest body of water in Oklahoma and spans nearly 13,000 acres with over 130 miles of shoreline. Visitors can engage in various boating activities such as sailing, water skiing, wakeboarding, inner tubing, cruising, fishing, and jet skiing. There are also secluded coves to anchor and enjoy a day on the lake. Four marinas serve as floating restaurants and offer fuel, snacks, swimwear, and water toys for rent.

Scuba Park is a popular attraction for divers, with clear waters ranging from 8 to 30 feet deep. Divers can explore underwater vehicles, planes, boats, remains of homesteads, and artifacts from before the lake was formed. Two diving pro shops offer training, certification, and equipment rental.

For hunting enthusiasts, approximately 2,590 acres of project land are licensed to the Oklahoma Dept. of Wildlife Conservation for a State Game Management Area. The principal game species are the whitetail deer, bobwhite quail, wild turkey, mourning dove, duck, geese, cottontail rabbit, and squirrel.

Golfers can visit the Cherry Springs Golf Club, a scenic championship course located north of Tenkiller Lake, or the Tenkiller Golf Club’s championship course, which plays through a hardwood forest on the southeast corner of Tenkiller Lake.

Nature lovers can engage in outdoor recreational activities such as bird watching, wildlife observation, and hiking. Migratory geese, ducks, other waterfowl, bald eagles, bobcats, and whitetail deer can be seen in the winter. Elk, turkeys, bobcats, squirrels, rabbits, and owls are also present. Visitors can explore spectacular rock formations, giant boulders, high bluffs, and natural springs on foot, horseback, or mountain bike. There are many places to access, including Tenkiller Valley Recreational Area, Sequoyah National Wildlife Refuge, Cookson Game Refuge, Tenkiller State Park Nature Center, Standing Rock Nature Trail, Buzzard Roost Trail at Cato Creek Landing, and Overlook Nature Trail located at the Tenkiller Dam Overlook.

The area offers a tranquil environment for those who prefer to relax on the back deck overlooking the river below. Visitors can also enjoy other outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, four-wheeling, kayaking, swimming, and fishing. Hundreds of people also party on the upper Illinois River every weekend, and launching a boat or jet ski is just two minutes from the house on Beautiful Lake Tenkiller.
